Lourdes Chavez
Hollywood Couture
Lourdes
is a fitting heir to the legacy of fabled Hollywood designer Bill Travilla-the
man who made glamorous movie stars look even lovlier.
Lourdes joined Travilla in 1993 and now creates 3 collections a year for the company. Her evolution of the Travilla tradition of sophistication has created excitement at the company and sales in stores. Her talents and energies are a declaration of a new era at Travilla.
Even
as a student at The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, she exhibited
outstanding ability, becoming a finalist for the Bob Mackie Outstanding Achievement
Award Scholarship. She was one of only three Americans accepted to participate
in Recontre Suisse De Jeune Talent awards in Switzerland (sponsored by the
Swiss textile industry), and she was acknowledged for outstanding achievements
as a student by the Fashion World Expo in 1985.
She began her career of designing for the stars by winning the Nolan Miller/"Dynasty" Contest and creating an outfit worn by Linda Evans on the blockbuster TV series.
When asked what inspires her elegant, sophisticated fashions, Lourdes replies
"everything-I can be driving in my car and become entranced by the colors
of flowers I see, the texture of leaves-even the color of a simple household
object like a telephone can trigger inspiration."
She believes that a woman should know herself and her style and choose the
clothing that most suits her-not just what "fashion" dictates.
Now residing in Los Angeles, and at home at Travilla, Lourdes is creating a new image of glamour that is redefining sophistication and allure for today's Hollywood stars, and women everywhere.
