For the 2005 holiday season, FIDM's Third-Year Advanced Study Film & TV Costume Design students were invited by the trend-setting, world-renowned Beverly Center shopping plaza in West Hollywood to take on the challenge of re-inventing a classic icon: Santa Claus! Their mission: create a look not for the traditional-looking Santa Claus, but for the Beverly Center's own buff and modern Hunky Santa.

Each student created a costume design for one of the eight Hunky Santa candidates. The students presented their sketches to Barbara Garrison of the Beverly Center.

In early November, the Hunky Santa finalists wore those FIDM-created costumes in a "Hunky Santa Fashion Show" at the Beverly Center. The public then selected the Hunky Santa for 2005 by going online and voting for their favorite Hunky Santa candidate.
