The making of a movie poster

Creative Team brainstorms the project
The Creative Director reviews the project, then discusses deadlines, marketing strategies, and the budget. The Creative Director will sometimes give an overview of the script and who the stars are so the Team will know who will be pictured on the poster (this is often referred to as the “star sell”). Everyone receives a copy of the script, reads it, then brainstorms on their own. The Creative Team then meets again and gives their view of the script and a lot more group brainstorming goes on. After the group reaches a consensus based upon everyone’s input, they each do thumbnail sketches based upon their ideas and the direction that has been given.
Creative Team creates sketches
After the Creative Team finishes creating the thumbnail sketches, the team meets again to discuss photo concepts and sketches of how the stars would be shot based upon their thumbnails. The photographer shoots the stars in specific poses taken directly from the Creative Team’s thumbnail sketches. These concepts still need to be further developed for final presentation.
Copywriter writes three-liners
The Copywriter receives direction based on the previous meeting, then creates a copy platform which helps in preparing the visual direction.
