The first place to start would be at your local mall. Most department stores have a plus size department. If your local store does not carry the kind of sophisticated fashions you're looking for, be sure to let the manager know. Requests are often passed on to the store's buyers and can affect the type of clothing that store carries in the future.

If you have already tried your local mall and have come back empty handed, there are some other options. A terrific source for plus size catalogs, as well as fashion tips, is a magazine called Big Beautiful Woman. The last few pages of the magazine feature numerous catalogs that specialize in larger sizes.
