Ask Fashion Girl
Dear Fashion Girl,
Dear Fashion Girl,
Is it hard to get into a fashion school? I really want to go to a fashion school, but I'm afraid that it's hard to get into.
Trippin
Dear Trippin,
Fashion schools are like other colleges in that there are different kinds of schools with various entrance requirements. Some are easier to get into than others. All fashion schools will look at high school grades and standardized test scores. Most will ask to see a portfolio or will ask you to complete an entrance project.
The top fashion schools will always look for talent. Frequently the type of talent that blossoms with a good education is not always obvious in a high school portfolio. For that reason, most credible fashion schools will also want to interview applicants. Sometimes a hidden talent is discovered just by talking with an advisor.
One word of advice I have for you is to trust your dreams. If you want to have a career in the exciting, fast-paced fashion world then go for it! In order to succeed you will need a good education at a good fashion school. Don't be intimidated by entrance requirements. If your goal is to study fashion, study from the best!
Pablo Picasso said "I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it." He wasn't intimidated to try new things and look how rich his life was. Remember - the things you want most out of life tend to be the most intimidating - but they also come with the greatest rewards.
Good luck Trippin,
