Dear Fashion Girl,

Dear Fashion Girl,

Which trend is more appealing to the true fashionista: vintage Pucci, or modern-day inspired Pucci?

Thanks, Eryn

Dear Eryn ,

Vintage Pucci is indeed a fashionista's dream! The most fashionable choice is to go for the true Pucci. Unfortunately, original vintage Pucci clothing is rare and expensive these days. But the rich always have favored his designs. His light, versatile silk jersey dresses were perfect for international jet setters in the sixties who could pack plenty of Pucci outfits in one suitcase. Pucci has always been expensive! Amazingly, there was a time when a Pucci printed silk jersey dress cost more by weight than gold! Thanks to the "Pucci-on-everything" craze in the 1960's and 70's, you now have decent chances of finding original vintage Pucci shoes, glasses, purses, luggage, billfolds, bathing suits, nightgowns, and lingerie. The thrill of owning an original Pucci piece would offset the money invested for a die-hard fashion maven. The next best choice would be modern-day prints inspired by Pucci, which are still cool and definitely trend setting right now. The driving forces of Op art and psychedelia that inspired the debonair designer are still prevalent in today's pop culture. Donatella Versace recently showed a sexy, vampy line exploding with chiffons in graphic, Pucci-inspired prints. Pucci's trademark colors are hot for the fall season! It won't be hard to find clothes in bright pastels like aqua, fuchsia, and yellow. Thanks to fashionistas in the know like you, Pucci's pop prints live on!A quick bit of fashion trivia for you: in 1971 the Apollo 15 crew carried a Pucci-designed flag to the moon!

Sincerely, Fashion Girl
