I really want to become a Fashion Designer! I love to design clothes, but Im not old enough to go to FIDM. What can I do now to become a Fashion Designer?

Its great that you already know that you want to become a Fashion Designer! Its not too early to start preparing for your future career, and developing the skills and knowledge that youll need to be a great designer! Here are some things you can do now to launch your career in Fashion Design:
- Read fashion magazines at the library.
- Go shopping often and keep up with the new styles in the stores.
- Shop in thrift and vintage stores and get to know the styles of the past.
- Start drawing your ideas! Get a folder for your sketches, put dates on them, and keep them in order so that you can see the progress of your ideas.
- Watch The Style Channel on TV.
- Read books from the library about fashions of the past and about movie costumes.
- Learn to sew! Take a class at school or in your community, or ask someone to help you learn.
- Design and sew clothes for yourself and for your friends.

Being a Fashion Designer is a dream that really CAN come true! Stick with your dreams, develop your passion for fashion, and nothing can stand in your way!
