America traces its roots as the sportswear capital of the world to World War II. Previously, Paris had dictated the styles and fashion-conscious Americans faithfully followed the French recommendations. Soon, new American designers came forward and developed their own trends.

Designers such as Claire McCardell, Anne Klein, Donna Karan and Geoffrey Beene embraced a relaxed “American Look,” and interpreted it by using comfortable fabrics creating flattering and versatile garments. American designers, though, have invented more than just a look; they have created a lifestyle.

This lifestyle concept takes into consideration every part of dress. To complete the designer’s identity, companion fragrances have been created and continue to be launched. Whether the scents have notes of sparkling green, citrus fruit or wood, the fragrances and fashions unite by capturing all parts of Americana: the outdoors, travel, weekend getaways, athletics and national pride.
